Skrap Skeins:

To create a skrap skein: Organize your yarns by fiber, weight and then by color. For a skrap skein, you need to decide on the color combination of your yarn, this is the fun part!  Will you make a shade of one color ? complementary colors ? example: pink , green. purple  or a random skein? Once you have your color combination sorted. Cut a piece of one yarn from 1/2 yard - 2 yards, tie it to another skein in you combo and determine how much the next color will run, cut and knot to the next. I leave long tails on the knots and trim after knitting. Hint: when giving a skrap kloth or when someone comments on how pretty the kloth is........do not say its a skrap kloth!! After all, you designed the yarn...

Send us pictures of your skrap items, below are patterns for washcloths and back scrubbers but don't stop there! Starry Nite is a great pattern for place mats, mug rugs...its up to you, your stash  and your needles. Have Fun!!

Notes and Tips :
For I-cord tutorial and tips, see: New Stitches 2 Master article in this issue.
To not get holes in work when using a bobbin, make sure you twist the two yarns in the back as you end with one and begin with another.
To keep knots to the back, use a crochet hook and pull knot to the back, if it is in the front.
If so desired, omit the two colors and knit with your skrap yarn for a different look, very textural.
Should you desire to change the size of the cloth or use this pattern for something else, repeat: x3 stitches + B= 8 stitches.
This makes a substantial thick cloth, I think this would make nice place mats!
